Cambus 35 Year Old

Cambus 35 Year Old

Is this a "SCOURBIN"?!

Imagine a whisky that's old, tastes like a rare old bourbon, but is a 35yo single grain scotch whisky? Do it.

Cask # 150606
Bottles # 206 worldwide
ABV: 57.4%

The tell-tale signs of age are evident in the thick legs down the sides of the glass, a precursor to the nose; Some fabulous Bourbon-oak-soaked depths to dive into here, becoming peachy and soft after air contact, augmented by what smells like A-grade wood. On entry, viscous, chewy and rounded, then more of a peaches and cream profile with a fine fruit-oak balance. The sugars retreat past mid palate, rich oils and hints of curacao taking their place as three decades of oak unravel. Ends in a rush of tongue-coating oils and powdery tannins. Mere years away from its peak, or just past it is debatable, regardless, this exquisite, slow-burn and very Bourbonesque grain delivers serious body, length and texture. Spend $1K+ on Eagle Rare 17 or buy this outright bargain. 206 bottles / finished for three years in an STR first-fill oloroso barrique. 57.4% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
